Taste of Italy Reviews

Getting the nitty gritty of pasta making from an expert.

Maribel had been recommended to me for some time now by people who understand food. I wanted to gain more knowledge about pasta making.. It was beyond my expectations.

I also teach cooking so I have an idea of how a class should be taught Maribel is clear and methodic in how she presents pasta making. She taught us in a very explicit way the techniques of pasta making that I finally came to understand in this class. The market visit in Bologna was a great beginning to this class. - Written May 1, 2023 by ghibellina52

Making Tortelloni stuffed with swiss chard in a pasta lesson in Bologna, Italy

Wonderful experience! A must, if you visit Bologna!

“Learned so much, from understanding the markets and local shops to preparing a variety of pasta dishes. Host really listened to our desires of food requests and went above and beyond to accommodate. Preparing the dishes from start to finish, was a long day, but well worth it!

Maribel was easy to talk to, open to questions, and opened her home and kitchen to us to complete a wonderful day. If you have never done this while visiting Italy, set a day aside to explore this unique culinary adventure!”

A Dream Come True

“This was so much more than I ever imagined. We began with visiting several markets to purchase everything needed for our class. At each store, Maribel taught us about the products in the store. The bakery, butcher, cheese store, wine store and all the fresh ingredients being sold in the alley.

We not only learned how to make homemade pastas, we learned how to clean Artichokes, make butternut squash filling and meat ragu.. The wine was a perfect pairing with our meal...

It was better than I could even imagine. Maribel is a joy to spend a day with and get to know. Thank you for making my dream come true.”

Fantastic Experience

“This was a highlight of our trip to Italy. We met up with Maribel to learn how to make tortellini in brodo, as our grandmother used to make for us. The tour began at the market, where Maribel showed us how to purchase all of the ingredients that we need.

At her home, Maribel showed us how to make the tortellini broth and how to roll out the dough into the perfect shape. We were amazed with how much flavor the broth had and the tortellini was delicious.

Maribel was an excellent host and we enjoyed her company as she taught us the art of pasta making.”

“Much thanks to you, Maribel, for a wonderful day of cooking, education, and conversation. I will definitely recommend your classes to others, and I hope to take another when I am next in Bologna!”
